How We Started Dating

Our journey started in August of 2021 at the end of a long dinner table while we were both going through a discipleship group at a family’s house from our church. This was a really sweet time for both of our walks with the Lord, where we were able to truly grow and learn a lot from the Voran family. However, we didn’t begin to pursue one another until that discipleship group eventually came to an end. That December, our church was putting on their annual children’s program, “Jingle Jam,” and through a conversation the two of us had, made a bet about whether or not one of our mutual friends, Dylan, would dance on stage that night or not. The wages of winning were between CJ winning a coffee, or Daisy winning a Monster energy drink. Dylan ended up following through and dancing on the night of Jingle Jam, resulting in Daisy owing CJ a coffee. After trying to pass off multiple free coffees to CJ, we ended up eventually deciding to get coffee together at Lucky Goat. After realizing how much we genuinely enjoyed getting coffee together and each others’ company, we got coffee again at Argonaut. However, this time, CJ’s intentions (to Daisy’s surprise) were more than just casually getting coffee together, but to pursue her more romantically and was shown by him picking her up from her house, opening her car door, and this time, returning the favor and paying for HER coffee. This time, what we call our “first date,” was more than just a casual hangout, but turned into a conversation where we truly got to know one another. We got to talk about our love for Jesus and the ways we’ve seen Him move in both of our lives. This would soon turn into multiple coffee dates, which eventually lead to a relationship rooted in the Lord, surrounded by a loving and supportive community, who we hope to stay invested in for the foreseeable future. (:

The Proposal

If you know Daisy, she absolutely LOVES orange juice. Specifically, the citrus blend from Florida Georgia Citrus after stumbling upon it one day at the local Tallahassee Farmers’ Market. CJ, knowing this, thought that the perfect place to propose would be the orange grove where they make the orange juice. Engagement and marriage had been a topic of conversation, so while CJ thought he had Daisy fooled, when they drove out to Monticello to go on a “surprise tour” of the orchard, Daisy had a feeling the moment was coming. CJ and the owners set up the sweetest picnic in the middle of the grove, and when CJ got down on one knee and popped the question, she said YES!
