Dahéli and Rameel's first date was in September 2015 at Jeni's Ice Cream Shop in Los Feliz. He treated her to a scoop, followed by an espresso, and they ended their date at The Alcove over fries. They talked a lot about food, design, and places they've traveled. They discovered they had a lot in common: being the first-born, English being their second language, and a love for the flick, Coming to America...after all, Dahéli would eventually be Rameel's "Queen to be." Rameel got busy earning a graphic design degree at ArtCenter and dropped off the face of the earth. So, Dahéli continued dating...even though she couldn't stop thinking about Rameel. He thought about her too, why wouldn't he? She's awesome. It took an accidental text from Dahéli three months later to get another date: lunch at the Brite Spot, a walk around Echo Park Lake, followed by coffee. The spark was now rekindled and Rameel wasted no time securing the next date. Less than a month later the spark was a flame. This past September, after a failed attempt to see Hamilton on Broadway, Rameel proposed to Dahéli on Gapstow Bridge in Central Park during an equestrian show...that's right, horses! He said, "I hope this makes up for Hamilton" and presented her with his mother's engagement ring. Both sets of parents were present and Rameel's mother recorded it in full effect for Facebook. For full details and hilarity, we'll be happy to tell you in person.
