Nick first met Lauren in 2016 while touring the University of Cincinnati. The pair were introduced by Nick's cousin, Jason, whom Lauren had grown up with in Cleveland. The following year, with both Lauren and Nick at UC, Nick asked Lauren to accompany him to his fraternity's formal. After a night of drinks and dancing, the couple became inseparable.

Shortly after Nick graduated college, the couple made the move from Cincinnati to Cleveland for new job opportunities and to be closer to Lauren's family. After living with Lauren's aunt and uncle for several months, the couple found their perfect starter home and devoted their time to home renovations. In May of 2021, Nick FINALLY popped the question outside the Cleveland Art Museum, and the two celebrated surrounded by family and friends.

In 2018, shortly after Lauren graduated from UC, the couple adopted their beloved mini Aussie, Riley. But alas, with more love to go around, Nick and Lauren adopted their rambunctious German Shepherd, Dexter, in 2019. However, their family was missing one tiny piece up until March 2021, when they were gifted Nick's grandmother's 14-year old Yorkie, Macie.
