We know this is on everyone’s mind! There are many reasons as to why we chose to have our wedding in Vietnam instead of the U.S. Vietnam is deeply connected to our roots and ancestors. Returning to marry in the land our parents once had to leave is a beautiful way to transform their journey from one of fear and loss into love and celebration. Second, our loved ones are spread across the U.S., Canada, Vietnam, and more. Those of us in the West have more freedom and resources to travel, while many of our family members in Vietnam would not be able to visit the U.S. for our wedding. We considered hosting celebrations in both Colorado and Vietnam, but realized that a single destination wedding was the best choice for us. It allows us to focus on creating an one wonderful experience while bringing together as many of our loved ones as possible. That being said, we completely understand if you cannot make it although we would love for everyone to be there. A destination wedding is not feasible for everyone, and we have to come to terms with that. No matter what, we appreciate your love and support! ❤️
As it is a destination wedding in Vietnam, we are sending Save the Dates 12 months in advance and formal invitations 5–7 months before the wedding. This gives you plenty of time to plan and book flights. More details will be included in the formal wedding invitations, but for now, we just want to give you a heads-up.
We want to make it as easy as possible for all our loved ones to be there. We will be covering accommodations, transportation, and meals during your stay. The main expense you will need to plan for is your flight to Vietnam.
One great thing about having our wedding in Vietnam in March is that it falls after Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), meaning flights will not be at peak-season prices. For the best fares, we recommend booking 4–7 months in advance because this is when airlines typically release their lowest prices for international flights. Keep an eye out for our invitation and we will also stay in touch to share the best time to book flights so please provide your contact information!
Our wedding will be 2 days long, on March 14th and 15th. While traditional Vietnamese weddings typically last 3 days, we have decided on a 2 day celebration. We recommend arriving a bit earlier to rest up, and we might have a little party, celebration, or night out in Saigon before the wedding. The ceremony will blend Vietnamese traditions with some of our American customs. You can come and go as you please, whatever works best for your schedule. Just let us know, and we will arrange your accommodations accordingly.
