Ashley had just moved to Boston to start Dental School at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. On her first weekend in Boston in July of 2021, Ashley was out attending a birthday for one of her new classmates at Cisco Brewery in Downtown Boston. As luck would have it, Eric was also at Cisco Brewery that night with a few friends who lived in his same apartment building. And in yet another twist of fate, Eric and his friends were sitting at the table next to Ashley and the birthday crew. Ashley and Eric made eye contact early on in the evening, and eventually the two started a conversation (Based on one of them pretending to need to borrow a chair from the other!). The night ended with the two exchanging phone numbers. A year and a half later, Eric was down on one knee proposing in Puerto Rico.
