We met in February of 2019 while working together. After a long late night shift, we bonded over our mutual love for 80's rock music. After that night we exchanged phone numbers, and some time later, we finally went on a date. Both of us were so nervous that all we could focus on was the movie. Afterward, we ended up talking in the car for more than three hours and realized we didn't want the night to end. Shortly after that night, we decided to make things official. Everyday has been just as special as that first night we spent together.

For our two year anniversary, we planned a trip to Manitou Springs and wanted to take pictures at Garden of the Gods to celebrate the occasion. That morning we had some time to kill, so we drove up to Colorado Springs and had breakfast at Snooze, one of Kayla's favorite breakfast spots. After that we went to Barnes & Noble where Kayla bought more books than she needed and Cruz encouraged her to do so. From there we made our way to The Cliff House to check into our room, and took some time to rest before pictures and dinner. At this point, Kayla had no idea the proposal was going to happen so she took her sweet time getting ready while Cruz was freaking out and calling Katie (Kayla's best friend and the one taking the engagement pictures) who was driving down from Denver, rushing to beat us to Garden of the Gods so she wouldn't be seen and spoil the surprise (because at this point, Katie and Cruz had spent 6 months planning and Kayla kept guessing without realizing it!) When Kayla was finally ready, we made our way to the Garden of the Gods. From there, Cruz made Kayla hike up this mountain. In a dress. To take "pictures" at the top. When we reached the top, Cruz dropped down to one knee, pulled out the ring, and-- "Oh my god!" was Kayla's first reaction. "Kayla Cata, will you marry me?" Cruz asked. "Yes!" Cruz placed the ring on Kayla's finger and it fits like it was made only for her. After that, Katie screamed "YAY!" and jumped out from where she was hiding to congratulate us, and for the next hour we took the most beautiful engagement pictures. After pictures, Katie and her boyfriend Josh joined us for dinner at The Cliff House to celebrate. That day was the most magical and perfect day for us, and we can't wait to celebrate the rest of our lives with our family and friends!
