Erin and Ryan are high school sweethearts. The couple met while working their high school jobs at Market Basket. Erin was working her usual closing shift when she noticed this cute guy bagging across the store. She was determined to get to know him, so she went out on a limb, left her number on his car windshield and the rest is history. Okay, well maybe Erin had to find the right car first (yes, she left her number on the wrong car not once, but twice!), but once she found the right car the rest was history! Erin and Ryan's first "date" happened on October 9, 2009 after Erin's homecoming dance. Erin and a few friends had plans to hang out after the homecoming dance, so she invited Ryan to meet up with the group and he of course agreed. There was an instant connection and the two have been inseparable ever since.

After Erin and Ryan moved into their first house, the first tradition they created together was cutting down their Christmas tree at Smolak Farms in North Andover, MA. It was only fitting that this be the location for their proposal. As tradition would have it, Erin and Ryan got up early on November 28, 2020 and set off for Smolak Farms to cut down their Christmas Tree. The day was like every other tree day, they arrived at Smolak Farms, picked up their saw at the tree stand and drove up the hill to all the beautiful Christmas trees. At last, they found the perfect tree. Ryan got down on the ground and placed the saw under the Christmas tree and Erin looked around the tree farm to admire the beautiful trees ready to be cut down. Suddenly, Ryan says to Erin "Uh, there is something under here!" Erin spun around anticipating a wild animal to come flying out from under the tree, but instead found Ryan down on one knee. He had the biggest smile on his face and asked, "Will you marry me?"
