Travel Note
Most places will take USD or Colones (the Costa Rican currency) - no need to change money in advance. ALWAYS check to see if your provider (tour guide, shuttle company, activities office) accept credit cards. Things work differently here and cash is king. ATM’s are limited and you are limited in the amount you can withdraw on a daily basis (usually $100-$200 - this is a CR bank restriction). As of this writing the US dollar is $1= 641 colones. When trying to work out how much something costs we usually just think about multiplying by 2. So if something is 5000 colones it is “about” $10, 10,000 colones is about $20, etc. Many places will list their prices in USD. Some places will give a discount for cash payment. Ask nicely. Credit card use may be legally charged an additional 6%.
Flight
From San Jose (a cheaper flight), it is a 4-4.5 hour drive/shuttle from the airport. However, you can book a charter plane for about $100 from San Jose right to Nosara: www.flysansa.com - This flight is only 45 mins and we recommend this if your trip is short and you aren't adding other stops in Costa Rica. Flying Alaska over our dates are $250-300 right now- book early and save! From Liberia, you can take either a shuttle or drive (2-2.5 hours). There are shared shuttles to Nosara that run between $45-$55 per person (We recommend Terratour Nosara). However, if you arrive at a time that is “off” you will require a private shuttle and the cost for that is $130. We also have cab services or private drivers we can help set up if needed! There are also flight options from Liberia to Nosara if you fancy. For the adventurous- or if you plan to explore- we recommend flying into Liberia and renting a car. You'll find beautiful green scenery- but some unpaved roads are part of the fun!
Rental Car
However, you will not need it much once in Nosara. The best mode of transport is golf-cart/atv or just simply walking! If you plan to explore more of Costa Rica, renting a car is an affordable and easy option for the adventurous types. We love to fly into Liberia, rent a car and usually add on a few places to our journey along with Nosara. Most things are walkable in Nosara, there are tuk tuks (taxis) everywhere, and golf carts/ATVs to rent if you don't like walking. While you don't need a car, there's a lot to explore (including nearby beach towns) if you have one.
Hotel
This hotel is where we are having our wedding ceremony and is steps from the restaurant our reception will be at. It's a small boutique 20ish room hotel situated on the cliff overlooking Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada, the two main beaches in Nosara. It's the only hotel on the beach, as most are in downtown Guiones (a lively beach town vibe). We are holding all rooms at the hotel for our guests for the time being, if you'd like to stay here, please reach out to Courtney with your dates (courtneymarieprather@gmail.com) by March 31st. If you're looking for a chill, relaxing, listen-to-the-waves sort of stay, this is the place. $$$

House Or Rental
Full disclosure- Sean and I have never stayed in a hotel in Nosara. We love to rent a house and live like the locals. In fact, we've done it so much we want to have a home there one day. Check out Airbnb or SurfingNosara.com- there are some gorgeous homes. Stay in Section K or J. Same for hotels. You can also stay in Playa Pelada (where the actual wedding is happening, but not other events). Pelada is Section A and a very quiet part of town. If staying in Pelada you will need some mode of transportation to get to Playa Guiones and back. Playa Guiones is where the action is so if you like surfing or good food and drinks and don't plan to have a car, we recommend staying in Section K or J.
