“Life Is An Elegant Party”

We have been knowing of each other majority of our lives. Our families were like family and some of our friends were like friends. I would always joke with his mom and dad. However, we didn’t formally meet until the Spring of 2013. I was working at a local furniture store that Jordan parents frequented. I was at work complaining loudly to Christie, my coworker, about a guy I’d paid to cut my grass. He’d stood me up. Everybody knew Mrs. Faye (the property manager) didn’t play about her grass. Christie was showing Jordan and his dad a bedroom set. When they got to the counter Jordan’s dad overhearing our conversation (eavesdropping lol) asked where did I move to. I told him Sugar Hill Crossing. He smirked and said Jordan’s back there too. He can cut your grass, he needs something to do. I nervously laughed, but quickly agreed to pay him for his services. Jordan declined and agreed to cut them for free. Later that day, I got home and I heard a lawnmower starting up. It was Jordan. I went to the door and quickly thanked him then walked back inside. My sister Heather who lived on the same street from me called and asked loudly… GIRL WHO IS THAT FINE ASS LIL BOY WITH NO SHIRT ON CUTTING YOUR GRASS. I said oh that’s Sandy’s son. She said girl look how he sweating. I peeked through the door and sho’nuff he look as if he would pass out. She then said, GIRL BRING THAT BOY SOME WATER BEFORE I BRING HIM SOME. Not phased I sent my daughter outside with a bottle of water. While watching through the door I was amazed at how gentle he was with her. At some point we exchanged numbers and he went on to cut my grass every week. One evening after cutting grass, he went home to no electricity. He sent a text about not having power and how hot it was. So I offered my couch. We sat on opposite ends of the sofa watching Criminal Minds and talking all night. He became more than my landscaper…he became my friend. I looked forward to his visits, text and phone calls. We talked about adversities in life, relationships, etc. Over time we became well acquainted with each others likes and dislikes. He was so easy. THE CHEMISTRY WAS STRONG BUT THE TIMING WAS WRONG!!! We both agreed that things were getting weird and our hearts were elsewhere. We shut off all communication!! Years passed and June of 2020 Y’all boy SLID IN MY DMs. (ANSWER THE DMs LADIES) I instantly shot him down because I WAS LIVING MY BEST SINGLE LIFE. Lol 🤣 After a few months of texting I quickly realized that Jordan was the same Jordan I remembered. He was persistent and a real gentleman. He waisted no time showing myself and everyone around us what he wanted. This time we became more than friends, we were lovers. With enough love to last a lifetime. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. IF IT’S MEANT TO HAPPEN, IT WILL. AT THE RIGHT TIME. FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.

On the day of our engagement. I woke up that morning pretending I was going to work. I got fully dressed and kissed Courtney goodbye by as I do every time I leave out for work. I wanted that day to feel normal to her. So when I left home I went straight to the flower shop and pick up a dozen of red and pink roses. I then went to my brother house and sat there for a couple of hours until I thought Courtney left the house. Around 4 pm I went back home got dressed called my brother and sister in law to pick me up. As I head up lemanville park I’m in the backseat thinking to myself. This is what you prayed for when you get there speak from your heart ( talking in front of people is not my thing). As we pulled up I’m in the backseat trying to hide because I was supposed to be at work. Courtney could not see me. I’m also in the back thinking how will this go being that Courtney found the ring a week after I brought it (being nosey lol). So I decided that since my family & kids and her family and kids were there, they could all hand her a flower as they walk up. As I was walking up Brett Young “In Case” was playing in the background. Family and friends gathered around as I made my speech and took a knee to ask my beloved if she would spend the rest of her life as my wife. Without hesitation she said yes!
