Joey and I have known each other since we were on the same softball team in New London in 2014! In February 2018, I messaged Joey about softball and I ended up on his team. I was invited to go to the batting cages and The Bar with Joey and some teammates. We walked in together so the bartender assumed I was with him, and like the gentleman he is, he paid without question. Did I mention, it was also Valentine's Day? Joey and I decided to make this a weekly "date night". For about a month, we hit the batting cages and went out for tacos every Tuesday night. It wasn't until March 24, 2018 that we became an official couple at a family event after being introduced as "Joey's friend" the entire night!
In summer 2023, Joey and I started golfing together, he even bought me my own set of clubs for my birthday. So, I didn't think anything of it when he asked to go golfing on a Friday before heading up north. We booked a tee time at Golden Sands in Cecil, WI. On our way, Joey stopped the truck, twice, once to check the garage door, and once to check the tailgate. He was so nervous! We arrived at Golden Sands and there was a wait for hole 1. While waiting, Joey's friend Josh, who was finishing hole 9, asked us to join him on hole 10-18. Hole 10-18 was pretty empty, while hole 1 was packed. Josh is one of Joey's best friends yet, Joey said no to Josh - now I know why! Eventually, we reached hole 3, my favorite number, and I teed off. When I turned around, Joey was on one knee and asked "Will you officially become apart of Wettstein Nation?" I replied with "Are you serious?! YES!" We ended up taking pictures on the course by the beautiful backdrop on hole 3. After golf, we continued north for Steam Up Days in Wabeno. We surprised Joey's family in person. I was finally worthy of a Wettstein Nation shirt, and I was able to compete in the competitions as a Wettstein!
