Let’s Tie the Knot

I became friends with a mutual friend of Courtney. She told me she knew a girl that would be perfect for me, but that I had to message her first. I refused to message first and just waited. Then finally Courtney messaged me and 8 years later the conversation has never stopped.

While visiting a friend from high school one weekend during collage I anticipated a girl's weekend. It was a get away from life's stress. She told me she had the perfect person for me to just text her. For a while I refused to text first. She finally talked me into it. Before I left and made the drive back, I finally sent the first message. I never imagined during this getaway I would be meeting my future wife.

Weeks leading up to our cruise in September 2022 I knew I wanted to propose to Courtney at Gullfoss waterfall in Iceland. I was a nervous wreck the whole day while we were on our Golden Circle excursion. (Oh, it was also the only day of our 12 day cruise that it rained!) We get to Gullfoss visitor center had had a dinner before walking out to the falls. I was almost too nervous to eat and had to drink a beer to calm my nerves. We get out to a lookout that was right beside of the falls and it was the perfect spot. I got down on one knee while Courtney was taking a picture. Instead of her turning around like I thought she would, she began to walk away! I had to say her name and she finally turned around and saw me. The look on her face was priceless! I asked her to continue going on adventures with me and she said YES!

Waking up my biggest concern was what to wear that day because I knew we would be outside a lot, and I didn't want to get cold. I also had straightened my hair and it was cute for pictures while walking through the tectonic plates and seeing the Iceland Geysir while on the Golden Circle excursion. The last stop of the day was Gullfoss falls. We ate lunch and Jenna asked if I wanted to share a local beer before starting our hike. Next thing I know she comes back with two different kinds because she didn't know which one, she wanted to try. We stepped outside to start our hike down to the falls and it was raining. On the way down I wanted to stop for pictures. Usually, Jenna is all about stopping for pictures, this time she was ready to get down there. We got to the edge of the falls, and it was beautiful. I absolutely love anything to do with water and nature and I was just in awe of how pretty it was. I took a panoramic of the falls. As I am finishing my picture, I caught Jenna's mom out of the corner of my eye with a phone and through she was trying to take the picture I said I' sorry and was trying to move out of the way. Next thing I know Jenna is calling my name. As I'm turning, I see a woman cover her mouth with her hands and say awwww she's proposing. I turn around and see Jenna down on one knee. I immediately go over with my hair blowing everywhere, tears in my eyes, and rain on my face. The world stops. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I take my right hand and grab her left hand. In my head I thought she's going to think I gave her my left hand. I'm giving her the wrong hand. I then take my left hand and hold her hand at the same time. It's just me and her on the edge of the falls. She is asking me if I will continue to do adventures with her, of course I said yes!
