One Saturday night, we found ourselves in the Ingles parking lot in Washington, GA because what else were we going to do? Long story short, I spotted a blue eyed, long haired, boy in a group of friends. I spent half of that night trying to find out who it was, where he was from, how old he was, and anything else I wanted to know. A friend of mine and I had a long drive home that night and he texted me to drive safe and we have talked everyday since. We spent many nights with our friends riding dirt roads, occupying parking lots, and there’s no telling what else we got into. Our friends knew we would end up together, but we denied until we couldn’t anymore. The fall after we met, Caleb went to North Dakota and this ultimately tested our friendship. Neither of us wanted to be in a relationship because we were not ready to love someone else. Although he was 2,000 miles away, he showed me who he was and it was everything I have always prayed for. I knew I wasn’t letting this one go. And my family, they thought I was crazy, dating a robot, and being catfished… December 2021 Caleb travelled back home and finally met my family. After seeing him with my family, I knew he was the one. My family talked about him everyday for a month straight. They knew I would one day marry Caleb and they made it known that he was also an answered prayer of theirs. There have many many states, miles, and challenges in our relationship. We have fell in-love, grew stronger, and built a relationship that will last a lifetime.
Back story, Caleb decided to go back to North Dakota for the “2” time in our relationship and he accepted a job offer in California with a company from Washington and he got to come home in January of this year for 3 days. I hear he had the ring for many months leading up to this, he hadn’t picked a date until he got the call to go to California. I tried to surprise my family of Caleb coming home but they were actually trying to surprise me. When Caleb told me that he wanted to go out to eat, I said I would love that until my family informed me that they were having a steak dinner at home. I may or may not have ruined Caleb’s plans but it only changed the dinner location! He acted funny that whole night, we lost power, it was cold, and he didn’t spend anytime with me although he had not seen me in weeks. It was very odd and I still had no clue what was coming. When the power came back on, we returned back to the kitchen to cook, cut Top Gun on, and enjoyed each other’s company. As everyone finished their plates, everyone spread out through the house until Caleb disappeared. Remind you, I had no clue to the point I was laying on the couch watching tv until I heard the door shut and a loud, in sync “Aweeeee, Courtney.” I looked up, saw flowers and said, “I know you aren’t asking me to be your valentine!” He got down on one knee and proposed, all while “this loving feeling” played in the background.
