During the most wonderful time of the year, we decided to give the Bumble dating app a chance. Funny enough, neither of us were really into those and didn't think much of it. We matched, started talking, and Kyle asked Alyssa to brunch at BAR (10 am on Sunday during Football season) within 24 hours of matching. We met up two days later and like Kyle says, "I knew there was something special because I had 20 TV's to watch football behind Alyssa (including his Vikings), but I couldn't take my eyes off of her." After almost four hours of brunching and only needing to leave for a work event, we made instant plans to hang out again as soon as possible. Two days later, we watched the Golden Knights at a restaurant outside of the arena. When the game was over, Kyle's dad, stepmom, sister and brother in-law met up with us unknowingly after they watched the game in the arena. Kyle was so nervous, that he grabbed Alyssa's leg and held hands for the first time to squeeze out the nerves. After hanging out with the family, we walked out of the restaurant, laughed at what just happened and shared our first kiss. We say that was the moment we fell in love. We hung out every day after that, and the rest is history.
Kyle here... so this was THE most difficult thing to keep secret, especially with all the moving parts! We were on our way to the arena. My heart was slowly beating faster and faster, but I couldn't make it seem like something was up. We checked in at the counter for the open skate and took to the ice. Now just the waiting game and praying nothing slips up and she caught a whiff of the proposal. As we skated around, a photographer showed up and we (Alyssa) thought she was there for social media, but little did Alyssa know, she was there for us. As the end of open skate was approaching, I was going through everything I wanted to say and imagined it perfectly in my head. Alright, it's time! "Open skate is now over, please make your way to the exit." Well it was, just not for us. So, I insisted we go for just one more lap and Alyssa, being the rule follower, insisted we listen and get off the ice. Well, she began to skate across the ice without me. I "fell" at center ice and she still didn't care! It wasn't until she heard our song play on the speakers, she turned around and saw me down on one knee. She couldn't believe what was going on. I couldn't get out any words besides "yes, I had something to do with this". All of a sudden I had just forgotten everything I wanted to say, it was TERRIBLE! haha. I finally popped the question, "Alyssa, will you marry me?" and she excitedly yelled "Of course!". I brought her in for a kiss and to place the rock on her finger. Slowly creeping up on us, Chance! I had planned Chance to come out with a VGK sweater with HOFFMAN 21 on the back. And it was after that that Alyssa looked into the stands to see all these people cheering and clapping for us...all being our families! She had no idea they were there for about an hour while we skated. She was most surprised with her sister being in town from Fresno. Literally it was the most perfect night and many thanks to everyone for helping me make it happen!
