How We Met

Cynthia's Perspective Cory and I first met when I took a job in a grocery store bakery, while he was working in the deli. I told another coworker I thought he was unbelievably sweet and adorable, three days before my last day, thinking she wouldn't tell him. Thankfully, she did tell him, because he came up to me on my last day, leaned against my workstation and said " So... I hear you think I'm cute" with the reddest face I think humanly possible. It was adorably obvious that he mustered up all his courage to ask me out on that first date, and of course I said yes! When we met up for our first date, it was in the middle of October so Cory had made this cute little pumpkin candy bucket with cutesy little things like a key chain, candy, and a brown teddy bear. We went to Texas Roadhouse for our first date, and we had waited to be sat, in the freezing cold, for about an hour, at least that's what the phone said. We were so wrapped up in conversation, and getting to know each other, that it felt like time was flying by. After dinner, we ended up standing in the cold outside his place talking for almost two hours before he kissed me goodnight for the first time, causing me to have the most butterflies I had ever had, and in that moment, I just knew that we were going to last forever. Cory's Perspective When I first met Cynthia, I remember her working at her workstation, I remember thinking she was the most beautiful girl and I remember thinking in the back of my head that there was no chance she would ever go out with me. Every time I would hear her giggle or laugh, it would brighten my day. Then one day, my coworker told me that she really liked me, and I should ask her out on a date. It took me all day to muster up the courage to ask her on our first date, but I was not letting this chance go. When she actually said yes, I was so thrilled I had major butterflies. We began texting frequently for the next week, even before we went on our first date. I was so excited about the date that I wanted to surprise her with an adorable pumpkin basket filled with some of her favorite things, little things we had talked about. On our first date at Texas Roadhouse, we sat outside on a bench talking and enjoying each other's company for quite some time. When we were on our way home from the restaurant, she started playing and singing along to Disney songs word for word. In that moment I knew that I wanted to be with her, and experience the fun, laughter, and joy that she brought to me so very easily.

The Proposal

12.22.22

The day started with us going to breakfast at Bob Evans, and then going shopping at Jungle Jims for any of our last-minute Christmas gifts we still needed to get. When we got there, it was a bit chilly, and it had just started to snow. We ended up being there for several hours before making our way home, and by then the snow was about 3 inches deep. After we reached home, I went to go put on my pajamas when my mom made an excuse to get me to go back out of the house. Reluctantly, she had said there was a Pokémon on Pokémon Go at the YMCA pavilion that she didn't have and asked me to go catch it for her. So, Cory and I went on an adventure out in the snow, which was about 5 inches by then. When we arrived there the snow was still falling, and the Christmas lights were all lit up. Cory was walking with me up to the stage when he slipped in the snow and almost wiped out, thankfully he did not. When we got up to the stage, I was looking up at the snow and lights, and when I spun around, I saw Cory get down on one knee with the ring in his hand. With tears in his eyes and emotion in his voice, he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said YES! Then I kissed him, hugged him and we spun in a circle. Cory and I often agree when talking about his proposal that it was as if he pulled it straight out a movie! Our Hallmark Moment that forever changed our lives. And in case you were wondering why Mom sent us out after a Pokémon in a snowstorm, it was because Cory had been holding on to the ring for weeks waiting for the snow to come. It was an important part of his ideal proposal because he thought the snow would make it the perfect Hallmark moment and he wanted it to be there because that was where we first danced, or at least tried to. Once before, he wanted to be romantic and started to play music on his phone for us to dance to under the Christmas lights, but when we started to dance the pavilion lights turned off after just a few moments. Cory told me later on, after proposing, that he chose that particular point and place in time because he wanted to have a do-over at a Perfect Hallmark Moment. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Miamisburg in September!
