In July 2018, Cortney hosted her friend Molly's birthday party at her apartment. Kane was visiting Ryan, who'd just started working with Cortney, that weekend so he brought him along. Kane and Cortney met that evening at Cortney's apartment, and bonded over movie/tv conversation on the Sassy Ann's dance floor later that night. Kane moved in with Cortney six months later.

how we met

In November 2021, Kane and Cortney had plans to see the Avett Brothers in Alabama. Cortney got home from work and told Kane she'd be ready to go in five minutes. He wanted to propose in their favorite place - at home - but also wanted to coordinate with their mini getaway that weekend. Kane met her in their walk-in closet with the ring and proposed.
