Beth and Mike met through friends. One of Beth's friends asked if she was dating anyone and when she said no she asked if she could give Beth's number to a "nice guy" she knew. Beth said sure! The next day Beth's friend asked if she had received a text, but she hadn't. She texted him to ask why he hadn't reached out. He said he had, but then he realized he had texted the wrong number! He texted Beth soon afterwards.

Beth and Mike got engaged on their three year anniversary. Mike was hoping to take Beth to the beach to watch the sunrise, but of course when they woke up it was pouring rain. He spent the rest of the day trying to find the right moment. They went to the cafe where they had gone on their first date but it was too crowded and the seats where they had sat on their first date were taken. They got ready to go to dinner that night and drove to the restaurant. Mike told Beth to stay in the car and he would come and open the car door for her. He opened the door, got down on one knee in the middle of the pouring rain, and asked Beth to marry him in the parking lot!
