Things To Do
Quincy Mine
Take a tour of an old copper mine. This area is called the Copper Country due to it's rich copper mining history. This tour will take you down into the old mines. It is a lot of fun! This is what Corey and I did one of the first times he came to visit me in the U.P. I recommend checking this out!
Calumet Waterworks Park
This park is right on top of Lake Superior. I like to take my dog Annie there to watch the water. There is also a volleyball court and basketball courts there. You could also have a picnic under the pavilion and watch the lake.
Nara Nature Park
Nice place to go for a hike. It is right next to the humane society.
Fort Wilkins State Park West Campground
This is a ways away from the venue but I recommend checking this out. It is an old military base. There are often actors there acting out colonial characters. It is a lot of fun and very interesting.
Chutes and Ladders
This is a great place if you have kids with you! There are really big slides to go down and it is a lot of fun. There is also a walking/running trail right by here that runs along the water of the Houghton Canal.
Brockway Mountain Drive
This is a driveway that takes you all the way up a hill to see the top of Broadway mountain. It is gorgeous! You will definitely want to bring your camera. It is a ways away from Laurium. However, if you only have time to visit one location, this is the one I recommend.
