Our Love Story

Growing up in Sandwich Connor and Diana’s paths never crossed. Connor graduated SHS in 2008 and Diana in 2012. Diana landed her dream job as a history teacher at SHS in the fall of 2021. On her first day of work, an adorable social worker caught her eye as he was receiving the “Teacher of the Year” award. As his family was joining him on stage to congratulate him, Diana scanned to see who each member was… “mom, brother…girlfriend, shoot!” He was off limits. Noticing a cute new employee, Connor started the new tradition of introducing himself to new staff. Over the next year or so, professional exchanges was the extent of their interactions. Both were impressed with how the other interacted and connected with students on a personal level. December 16th, the day of the staff holiday party a coworker came to Diana’s classroom and asked “Are you single? Because Connor Green is. And he’s going to the party tonight.” Diana replied “No, but I can be!”. This co worker then went to tell Connor “I told her you’re single so you have to talk to her tonight.” Connor wasn’t sure who she meant but was hoping it was Ms. Evans. He had to explicitly ask and was excited and nervous with her confirmation. That evening, it took a few hours and several drinks for Connor to finally approach Diana and start a conversation, which was easy and quickly became clear that they had a connection. In a text that night, she explained to him that she was seeing someone but was “enamored” with the conversation and that he would be the first to know when things changed. Connor, had to google what the word “enamored” meant to assure an accurate understanding. It was a strong word for her to use, but perfectly portrayed what he was feeling too. Over the next month or so, the two looked forward to any and all minor encounters in the school day, a simple wave and smile made their day. Finally during a professional in-service day, the two were grouped together learning about school safety, but nothing about each other. Unsatisfied with that, Diana indirectly invited Connor for a cocktail at her favorite spot, The Seal. Connor, after a cold plunge in the ocean showed up in wet clothes, a testament to how comfortable he was around her. That evening Connor visited his brother Devin, and expressed the pure joy he felt around Diana. After Diana updated Connor on her new relationship status, they had their first date at the Daniel Webster Inn, where they shared many laughs and Espresso Martinis. Connor walked Diana home and gave her a gentlemanly kiss goodnight. Connor moved into the apartment upstairs from Diana. Over the next several months the two continued to spend increasingly more time with one another, despite not having any labels yet. To Diana’s frustration, months later there was still no official commitment from Connor. He knew that Diana had always wanted marriage and a family. Connor just wasn’t there yet. He had never envisioned those things for himself, until an emotional exchange, proving that he couldn’t be without her. In June, the two took a road trip to Virginia to celebrate MollyJo’s wedding. The day of the wedding, Connor stopped by to drop off a few items that Diana had forgotten. As he was leaving, his subconscious spoke for him, telling Diana casually “I love you” as he was saying goodbye. Unbeknownst to Connor, Diana was planning on telling him “I love you” that evening. With confirmation of their love for one another, they spent the rest of the evening dancing and floating on cloud 9. Officially a couple, the two spent the summer falling more in love. Connor moved in with Diana in July where they seamlessly adjusted. Connor, realizing that marriage and a family is what he wanted with Diana, he bought the most significant purchase of his life, after consulting with both of Diana’s dads, Darold and Derek. He proposed on December 16th 2023, exactly one year after their first exchange at the holiday party.
