Let’s celebrate!!

When we first met back in middle school, we were just classmates, but it never really became anything more than that. We both went on to continue our lives separately Then in April 2019 I got a facebook friend request. I recognized his name from school and accepted. About a month later we started talking, then in June we started hanging out. Our first date was a movie at my place. The moment I saw him step out of that car I just knew he was the one. On August 8, 2019 Connor asked me to be his girlfriend, and of course I said yes. From then on things moved pretty quickly. We’ve had our ups and downs, good times and bad, but through it all we’ve had each other.

Fast forward to October 2021 and we found out we were expecting. We were pretty far along when we had our first ultrasound, about 22.5 weeks actually. And on March 3, 2022 we became parents to our rainbow baby, the most beautiful baby girl, Michelle Kelly McCarthy. Becoming parents without our moms, was a whole new kind of grief, but we always had each other.

It was just like any other Thursday afternoon. I was in the living room while Michelle was playing. And Connor was doing usual things before getting ready for work. What made this Thursday different, it was right before Christmas so Connor had been wrapping my presents. He looks at me and says “I’m going to give you a present early” I asked him why and he just said “because I don’t want to wait” He walks out, hands behind his back and tells me to close my eyes because it’s not wrapped. I close them and put out my hands out. He puts a cardboard box in my hands and tells me to open. I do, but the box is empty. Then I look up and there he was, on one knee with the ring. Michelle was standing right there between us smiling from ear to ear. And of course I said yes!! And here we are

Meaghan’s father, Scott, was very sick. And the one thing she had been looking forward to most was having him at her wedding. Things took a turn for the worst and we truly didn’t know how much time we had left with him. So we decided we’d get legally married in his hospital room to guarantee he would be there. So on 4/14/24, with the help of Connor’s sister Aly, and surrounded by a few loved ones we said I do, and legally became husband and wife. It wasn’t how we dreamed it would be but it was absolutely beautiful in its own way.

After legally getting married April 14, 2024 we decided to postpone our big celebration. We then decided we wanted to add to our family instead of waiting til after the big celebration. In August 2024 we got our positive pregnancy test. I then told Michelle “mama has a baby in my belly”. The excitement on her face and the love in her eyes was everything. So once Connor left for work that day I made Michelle a “big sister” shirt that she could wear the following morning when waking up daddy. The next morning came and with her new big sister shirt on, Michelle went right into our room, and surprised Connor with the news. I’m Spring 2025, we learned he was measuring a bit ahead, so we decided I’d get induced at 39 weeks. On April 28, 2025, we welcomed baby Lucas into the world. At 11:40 pm, he made his arrival. He was 9lbs 5oz, 20.5in long, and absolutely perfect.
