"I do" at 12,000 feet

People often say that planning a wedding is tough work, and at 18 months into our engagement we couldn't have agreed more. After months of considering all the possibilities, we finally decided to have the best of both worlds: an intimate elopement and a casual celebration with family and friends. September 28th was a day true to us: we had an early breakfast, sang along on the drive to Breckenridge, and ran *slightly* behind schedule to meet our photographer. Colton brought great snacks for the trail and made sure we had all the important items packed, Audrey procrastinated and built her bouquet minutes before starting the hike, and it all felt just right. The hike through McCullough Gulch was filled with laughter and exchanging vows at the windy alpine lake was uninhibited. With the sun rapidly setting, we popped a bottle of champagne before pulling on our jackets and headlamps for the hike out. Colton impressed all with his ability to hike in a full suit, and Audrey's dress was appropriately trashed by the end of it. Halfway down the trail, we were stopped by the Milky Way stretching across the sky. The last car at the trailhead, we popped the trunk and snuggled in to sign our marriage license, making "official" what we had long known was a great partnership. One week later we were standing partway around the world in Iceland, ready to explore new landscapes, soak in hot springs, conquer fresh hikes, and of course eat all the food. Only thing left to do is bring together friends and family to help us celebrate 10 years of togetherness!
