Collin and I met in the fall of 2015. We were both juniors attending UW-Eau Claire and I got a part-time job at good ole Menards as a cashier and Collin happened to be my trainer. He tried to impress me by opening a roll of coins by banging it underneath the counter so they'd all fall into his hand. They instead all fell on the floor. I could tell Collin and I had a great energy and instantly clicked by the way we'd make each other laugh. We bonded over music and the struggle of working at Menards when we'd rather be anywhere else. I went home that night thinking, I'm gonna date him. It might not be soon, but eventually it's gonna happen. Collin and I built a great friendship and hung out often with our Menards friends outside of work. In the Summer of 2015, Collin asked if I was planning on going to Eau Claire's own music festival, Eaux Claires, started by Justin Vernon (an Eau Claire native and one of our favorite artists in the band Bon Iver). I said yes and I went with Collin and his brother, Kyle. We had such a fun time together and the two of us proceeded to go to Eaux Claires II and III together as well. At some point, everybody basically assumed we were dating and our friends would check in asking what was happening. In the spring of 2017, Collin and I would regularly meet up at The Joynt, Eau Claire's best and classiest bar, for happy hour. We'd talk for hours pausing to get up and play music from the Joynt's legendary jukebox. Eventually things fell into place and we had both shared our feelings for each other that have always been there. Most importantly - I was right. We started dating.
In the winter of 2021, Collin proposed in our home. We were getting ready on a Saturday to go see my family at my sister Erin's house in Menomonie. As I'm getting ready, Collin popped in the room a few times to see where I was at with getting ready, which I thought was odd. He called me into the main room of our home and I came down the hallway. He called me over to the kitchen and took my air pods out of my ears and set them down. He held my hands and said the most thoughtful things...which I definitely blacked out for because I was so emotional. It was so beautiful and special and felt right happening in our first home together, a spot that we are in every day to remember. Collin and I are so happy and so excited to start this next chapter as husband and wife and we cannot wait to celebrate with everyone!
