Planes, trains, and automobiles!

The Richmond International Airport is 20-ish minutes from the city and is a very easy airport to travel to/from. Don't underestimate security lines at a small airport though! It is hit or miss on whether you fly through or wait so we recommend giving yourself a normal amount of time to catch your flight. Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Washington Reagan (DCA) are two additional options if you are struggling to find a flight into Richmond. Dulles and Reagan are each a 2 hour drive to Richmond. Amtrak trains are another option for getting to Richmond. You can arrive into either the Richmond Staples Mill station or the Richmond Main Street station. Staples Mill is a 20-ish minute drive into the city and Main Street puts you right into the city (however has fewer options). If you fly into DCA, you can get a super quick Uber ride or Metro ride to the Amtrak King Street Station in Old Town Alexandria and make your way down to Richmond. Lyft is a thing here! So is Uber :) However, we tend to have better luck with Lyft when getting around town. We highly recommend you download both and plan to check both across the weekend. Please keep in mind that wait times in a smaller city can be long and cars don't always arrive immediately like in DC or NYC. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to arrive by ordering early!
