While Liv was in class sophomore year at Point Loma Nazarene University in Cabrillo Hall. As she looked out the window, Cole Taylor nonchalantly skated past unaware that his future wife already had eyes on him. Liv leaned over to a friend in class, announcing that she thought that skater was so cute. Her friend, Brennan, looked out the window to see Cole skating by and only had one thing to say, “Him? Liv, he’s not even a good skater.” (This turned out to be true since he did indeed break his wrist on one of their first dates from skating!) And that was where the story began… Cole would argue that they met in the library and Liv would argue that they met while working for Point Loma Admissions. The infamous story goes that Cole was in the library to study and Liv entered the library to socialize. While working for Point Loma Admissions, Liv and Cole spoke for the first time. Liv had dyed purple hair after going to a Jonas Brothers concert, Cole was kind and pensive not completely sure how to interact right off the bat with such an enigma of a person. This is where the butterflies started to form for Cole, whereas Liv thought he was cute right off the bat. Flash forward a week later when brief conversations happened on Caf lane, to numbers exchanged after Chapel to eventually a date to play tennis. As they were both instantly enamored with each other, but chose to proceed with caution due to Cole’s study abroad semester arriving that Spring of 2020. The romance stayed alive as Cole sent Valentine’s packages and Birthday flowers from Sevilla, Spain! How did he do such a thing? (Shoutout to Mrs. Shields and Caleb Crist!) Eventually, COVID arrived in Sevilla, and Cole was sent home in early 2020. Liv and Cole’s cautious, holy-cow world is falling apart, all we can do is eat outside, and romance continues to grow as they see each other through the pandemic times. August 6, 2020, was the day Cole FINALLY (after 9 months!!) decided to take the official step to ask “Olivia Grace Johnson, will you be my girlfriend?” while in Balboa Island, Newport Beach. From that day, Cole and Liv’s story continued to be written. Filled with graduating from Point Loma, navigating a relationship while also trying to grow into their passions and careers, learning how to love through seasons of long-distance, and most importantly trying to love each other as God has loved us. It has been a long four-ish years of dating and we are very done with it (& so are our people!) We desire to join together as one flesh, excited to step into a new chapter of our lives, and honored to begin in the covenant of marriage in front of all of you.
