In the summer of 2018, Colby had just ended his contract with the Marine Corps, and Maddy had just finished her first year at Texas A&M. Both decided to join the summer staff at Camp Deer Run in Winnsboro, Texas. The two had never met before, but had many mutual friends from Saturn Road Church of Christ. Colby knowing this, approached Maddy on the first staff night at Deer Run in the summer of 2018, and the rest is history. The two have been together ever since! Colby eventually moved down to Bryan, Texas to work on his degree and be near Maddy as she finished her time at Texas A&M. After graduation, Colby moved to Midlothian, Texas to begin his career with the Dallas Police Department. Maddy moved to Stephenville, Texas to begin nursing school at Tarleton State. The two have been doing long distance for the past year. On June 25, 2022, the couple got engaged at the Dallas Arboretum under Crape Myrtle Allee! In 1969, Maddy's grandpa, Jerry Mason, purchased a solitaire ring with a gold band and four diamond petals. He later proposed to her grandmother, Marti Mason (Marnie) with this beautiful ring. She, of course, said yes, and the two have been married for 52 years. In 2022, knowing Maddy's love for antiques and her grandparents, Colby asked for that special ring to give to Maddy. The couple is excited to carry on this legacy of love for 50+ years to come!
