How We Met

2/28/16

Alex: We'd known each other for a while, but digits were exchanged at a youth wrestling tournament at Aberdeen High School. I was running tables that day, and Lindsey just walked up to me from behind and said, "You should text me some time." I totally didn't celebrate by fist pumping after she started walking away. Lindsey: I first noticed Alex at my brother's wrestling practice and was immediately blown away by his smile and the kindness he displayed when interacting with younger teammates who clearly looked up to him. Two years later, at the final wrestling tournament of the year, I mustered up the courage to give him my number on the back of a Starbucks receipt. He texted me within the hour and we've been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal

8/4/23

Alex: Most stressful day of my entire life. We'd already been on vacation for 3 days, and I'd been lying about not proposing the whole time. I had to sneak around and make plans behind her back. In the end, the day was amazing and I gave her the proposal I wanted to give her for 7 years. Lindsey: Alex and I planned a short trip to Mexico in August 2023 at the same resort where we are to be married. I knew the proposal was coming eventually, but Alex gaslit me until I was convinced the proposal would not happen on our vacation. He planned the perfect day; we swam in a Cenote, snorkeled in the ocean, and, to my surprise, had a romantic 5 course meal on the beach. At the end of dinner, Alex got down on one knee. He also made sure to order my favorite dessert and wine to celebrate. Truly a perfect day.
