I will forever be convinced that our love story is one out of a fairy tale, where "love at first sight" and "I knew I was going to marry them the moment I met them" was the everlasting theme. Because for me, it's true. How we first met is your typical Midwest, small town meeting. We were out at the Monkey Bar in Prescott WI, a place where Cody never frequented, and while I do, I was out with coworkers from St. Paul and was surprised they wanted to go dancing in Prescott. It was from across the bar I saw him, and when our eyes locked, that was it. I had to know him. (His version is that I super stared at him repeatedly, but I'm sorry who asked who to marry him?! Yeah.... He was staring too!!) I saw his friend group included an old coworker and thought I would come say hi with the intention of sparking up a conversation with him. Well naturally I came up just as they were deciding to leave. I told my old coworker goodbye and as she walked away, Cody walked by. I stopped and said, "Hi! I'm Kaitlin!", He simply smiled (fully taking my entire breath away) and said, "I'm Cody, I wish I could have talked to you more". All I could muster out was "me too!" with an awkward giggle and I walked away disappointedly. I thought that was that and I would never see him again. Did I try to super stalk him on Facebook the next day? Yes. I searched Cody in Hudson, WI, I looked through my old coworkers friends list. Nothing. And with that, all hope was lost. Later that day, my friend Makayla (my bridesmaid) sends me a message, "Hey! I'm at Will's high school friends birthday party! His friend is here. And I think you should meet him." She proceeds to tell me how wonderful, charming, great with kids, and stable this guy his, how wonderful he would be for me. She says she told him all about me and he was happy to meet. I said sure, unenthusiastically and moved on. Throughout the day she would send me what she thought were good pictures to show me what she thought were good pictures of him, but all were blurry. Then finally, later in the afternoon, she sends me a decent picture that I could make out. And who was this mysterious guy she is talking up to me? The same guy I had been making eyes at the night before, the one I told my girlfriends about earlier that same day. It was Cody Hall.... Fate is real.
It was a frigid cold day on St. Patrick's day, Cody took me down to the park where we shared our first kiss during Booster days 2021 . He attempted to take me all the way to the to the very spot we kissed, however, I kept complaining about how cold it was. While it was short and sweet, soon after he took me to the restaurant we had many dates at where some of our close friends and family joined for dinner and drinks after. It was truly the best day!
