They met at the sprint car races in Chico, CA in late summer of 2014. They started out slow, but by that winter they were inseparable. The following fall, Justin introduced Mackie to his love of duck hunting and she introduced him to her love of big game hunting. They knew this was just the beginning of so many adventures to come... Their love has been much like a hunt... They have put in the time, been patience, hiking through the toughest ditches and highest mountains all to get to the view at the top. Stopping to smell the flowers, checking the tracks (& poop) and celebrating all the little beauties along the way. In October of 2024, Justin took Mackie on a duck hunt up north next to Burney Falls. They had a great hunt followed by a steak dinner (her fav). The next morning they went on a hike to the beautiful Burney Falls followed by a slow trip home enjoying the turning of fall and observing the flights of birds making their way down south for the start of the season. When they were home and reunited with with dogs, Justin asked the question he had been waiting to ask... screaming, crying and dogs running around like crazy, Mackie says "Really!?" Mackie always wanted to be surprised by his proposal and Justin defiantly succeeded! It was the most perfect end to the most perfect weekend. This is just their beginning... they cannot wait to celebrate their next chapter with you!
