My story of meeting Daniel is evidence of God’s listening ear, perfect timing, and providing immeasurably more than I could ask or imagine. Leading up to meeting Daniel, I went through rejection, heartbreak, confusion, wondering when I would meet the man that I have been praying fervently to God about. Despite the unknown, I trusted God wholeheartedly that He was going to bring me my person when His timing was right. Funny enough, the night before I met Daniel, I called Jenni and my mom crying because I genuinely was so sad, thinking I was never going to meet somebody that had all the qualities I had been praying for. The next morning, April 9, 2023 (Easter Sunday), I came over to my friend’s house for an Easter barbeque. Low and behold, Daniel walks into the doors. Daniel was a familiar face, but we had never officially met one another. He was so handsome and walked in so confidently, I was secretly hoping we would get a chance to talk. Later in the night, we sat next to each other while we ate. What started as small talk just getting to know one another, ended in hours of sitting on the floor in front of one another, talking about everything under the sun. The way Daniel was so intentional with every question he asked in getting to know me, how evident his love for the Lord was, and how much we had in common, I knew God’s hand was so clear in us meeting. As it began to get dark outside, Daniel followed me out to my car, asked me to get frozen yogurt with him that night, and then as the night ended, he asked for my number & asked me on an official date! Ever since that night, we have been inseparable. God has slowly revealed to us ways that our story has been intertwined since the beginning, before we even knew who the other one was! Daniel asked me to be his girlfriend on April 27, 2023, we said “I love you” to each other shortly after on May 9, 2023, engaged on February 11, 2024, and now getting married on September 21, 2024! God has continued to prove Himself to be in control of our lives. His kindness, faithfulness, and redemption is written all over our story. We are both expectant that God is going to continue to reveal Himself through marriage as we become One. Our prayer is that our story and marriage would point others to Him & that we will bring glimpses of His Kingdom here on earth. “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20
The story begins March 2023. I was at my peak single life and enjoying every moment of it. Spending time with friends, adventuring, putting in the hours for my career, seeking new experiences, and being in church community. On one of those carefree evenings I found myself at a Brook event. A young professional's group in Denver which centers around establishing connection with others and with God. Sitting with friends I listened to some incredible speakers before they did a worship set. As we were leaving, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see a guy I've never met before who introduced himself as Adam. He asked if he could share something with me, I curiously said yes. He pulled me aside and said the wildest thing. As I was worshipping, and he was a few rows behind me, he saw a vision over my head. I stood in front of 3 doors, with a key in my hand that represented joy. I tried the first 2 doors and they did not open. I tried the third door, a yellow door, and the key unlocked it and I was filled with immense joy. Then he asked if this meant anything to me? I said I had no idea what any of that meant but I was so intrigued, in a state of slight shock, and just curious. We talked for another 30 min, then he prayed over me and mentioned things no one knew about me. You don't walk away from an experience like that with it leaving an impact on you. Fast forward a month and I get invited to an Easter Party. Now I had my eyes on Madison for awhile but from a distance. We had talked once or twice briefly but her friend group of girls and herself were very intimidating. I'd always see her at the front row in church worshipping, being very involved in community, and seemingly knowing everyone. When I heard she was going to the Easter party I knew I had to show, just to see if I could chat her up. I showed up, naturally talked to everyone but her, up until we sat down on the floor close to one another. She asked me a question and then we were off. After about an hour I asked her some more deep questions, specifically what she was about and how she would describe herself. She proceeded to say that yellow was her favorite color and that she loved being joyful, the happiness that comes from being loved by Jesus. Internally I immediately thought back to Adam's vision but kept my cool and didn't say anything. I kept that secret for almost another 2 months, not wanting to make what we had anything more than what was in front of us. Come to find out, when God told Madison to move up to Colorado, she left behind her family, friends, and house. And that house had a bright yellow door. Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
