In order to keep our celebration as safe as possible, we strongly recommend that our guests are fully vaccinated against Covid prior to attending our wedding. If you choose not to do so, we ask that you would have a negative Covid test within 48-72 hours of the event. Regardless of vaccination status, if you are feeling unwell or have had a recent exposure, we ask that you would remain home and celebrate with us in spirit. We thank you for your understanding and for helping us to keep our wedding as safe as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
We officially became husband and wife on May 24, 2020 during an intimate ceremony in a Maryland park. On Sunday, November 14th, 2021, we will finally get to celebrate with all of our loved ones! We hope that you will consider joining us for our "I do re-do”. We can't wait to celebrate this with you all! Please RSVP here on the website by 10/14. Thank you all so much and stay safe!
We met in college at Johns Hopkins. Katie was the point guard on the basketball team and I rode the bench on the football team (kidding, sort of). We were both a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Hopkins, and I distinctly remember telling a buddy of mine “she’s my kind of girl”. One night while at dinner with FCA, Katie mentioned that she likes to bring a cupcake to friends for their birthdays. I jokingly (read: pleadingly) asked her if she would do the same for me. Katie, being the sweet, relational person that she is, agreed. She was pretty surprised to learn that my birthday was in fact the very next day! I like to think it all started with a cupcake. For our first official date, I asked Katie if she would like to “have dinner” with me, requesting that we meet outside of my apartment beforehand. When she arrived, I walked her halfway down the block before exclaiming “OH WAIT! I forgot my wallet! Can we run back up and grab it?” To Katie's surprise, I had transformed my tiny apartment into a restaurant, complete with a white tablecloth and candles, and had gotten the ingredients for us to make dinner together. I had even gotten the fixings to make a salad, because “girls like salad” (I now enjoy eating salads quite regularly).
It was Friday March 8th, and Zach was planning to come down to Baltimore for the weekend. I had a big exam that afternoon and after I finished my test I headed home to find my roommate Sara, who made me some food, and then asked to borrow an outfit. So we walk up to my room only to find the most beautiful bouquet of flowers (Including sunflowers which are my favorite) and a handwritten note from Zach that said that he was sending me on a scavenger hunt to all of our favorite places in the city. The first clue sent me to the coffee shop that Zach and I love to study at, Daily Grind. It was there that I found two of my closest friends from medical school with a second clue and a small mason jar of rainbow sprinkles (my favorite ice cream topping). This clue sent me to one of the best ice cream shops in the city, The Charmery. So we hopped in the car and Sara dropped me off at the ice cream shop only to find three of our good friends from Philadelphia. After enjoying an ice cream cone together, they gave me the next clue which sent me back to the gym at the undergrad campus where our love began. More familiar faces were to found, this time it was Jared and Kate, our closest friends from college who drove up from North Carolina to be there. Their clue sent me to our church, St. Mo's, where I found John and Kristina, two of our mentors and friends, who opened up the church and spent some time praying with me over our relationship. I was then given the last clue that sent me back down to Fells Point, to our favorite park bench that overlooks the harbor, that Zach had decorated with jars of lights. It was there that Zach got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and with a great big smile on my face, I said “YES”. We had a few minutes to ourselves to just soak in the moment, before we went to a nearby bar where so many of our friends, as well as Zach’s family were gathered, many of whom had traveled many hours to celebrate with us. It was a perfect night!
Due to COVID-19, we were married in a small ceremony on 5/24/20 in a park overlooking the water. Although not the wedding we initially imagined, our day was filled with so much joy and we can't wait to celebrate that with you all in November at our I Do Re-Do!
