How We Met

His and Her Version

Seth's Side: Seth and Claire both headed down to nags head on their respective family vacations. They were both in for quite the surprise. I didn’t get there until Tuesday and decided to go out on the beach in the suit I cared least about, and needed to wear a to get my moneys worth. Within the first 20 mins on the beach I spotted a particularly attractive girl in the group next to us, and proceeded to tell my mom sitting next to me to look over, and that I was going to talk to her for sure at some point. A little later on, Claire and her nephew walked over to ask if we would mind fireworks that night and if any of the boehner family wanted they could join. We all chose to go out that night and watch and I decided to go out and work up the courage to ask her to go for a walk after the fireworks on the beach. After what felt like 5 miles of walking on the beach and a million bug bites later I thought she was enjoying the walk and conversation as much as I was and decided it was time to try and kiss her. Thankfully it worked out and she wanted to, as much as I did. I spent the next couple days trying to play games with her family, and see if she would come play with mine so I could get as much time as possible before it all ended. Throughout the drunken beach games and family board games we figured out we weren’t that far apart and I convinced Claire it would be a good idea to go on a date when we got back home. The rest is happily ever after so far. Claire's Side: When I first saw Seth, I was winning in a game of wickets against brother Nick (which is a rare occasion), and turned to my sister-in-law Nicole, saying, "Hey, look at that guy over there in pink shorts." Later that day, my nephew Caleb and I decided to approach the families on both sides of us to let them know that we were letting off fireworks later, and they were both more than welcome to come out and watch. So, fast forward to 9 pm, Hannah and I were waiting for fireworks and hunting for ghost crabs, like we used to do. While hunting, we ran into a group of kids who were also hunting and joined forces. Then, as the fireworks started, we set up view with all the kids who happened to be all Seth's nieces and nephews. As the fireworks ended, Seth walked up to us and asked if I wanted to go for a walk, and of course, I said yes. We each grabbed a fresh drink and started walking. Some of the walk is a blur, but we were out for so long that my family was blowing up my phone, asking if they needed to send a search team. For the rest of the week, we somehow found ourselves together playing beach games during the day and code names at night. After that, we both went home with plans to probably hang out, but my non-committal self could not commit to another date. A few weekends went by, and Seth texted, asking how his brother asked if he wanted to come up to go to some breweries and asked if I wanted to join. So, that weekend, I drove to Seth's place in Arlington, and then we drove to Jarred and Alana's for the night. After that weekend, I don't know if we spent a weekend apart.
