This is the most affordable way to get to the island, although it takes a bit longer (approx. 1-2 hours longer), it is a great and fun option! If you fly into SJU, you need to get an Uber, Taxi or shuttle from SJU to Ceiba, where the Ferry port is located. The Uber will cost around $40-80 and the ferry is only $10. Ubers are a reliable and easy way to get to the ferry. Booking Tip: 1. You can now reserve tickets online at www.puertoricoferry.com/en/routes-schedules/ceiba-vieques/ 2. Give yourself around 2 hours to get to Ceiba from San Juan to be safe, especially if you’re driving during high traffic times. Or book more than one ferry time if you need a back up option, since the tickets are only $10. 3. Publico Vans are located outside baggage claim at SJU which can sit 10-12 people. You can take this or an Uber or taxi to get from SJU to the ferry. 4. Ride is short and scenic. 30-40 minutes. Great way to travel with a group for cheap! 5. Sea sickness – The ferry ride is stable, and the average person feels comfortable. If you suffer from sea sickness, sit on the middle seats where you’ll feel less motion or take meds beforehand.
