We met December of 2022 in our employee housing set up with Winter Park Ski Resort. It was the first time either of us had worked on mountain! Ben had moved out here from Vermont and Claire had moved out here from Texas. Claire didn't move out to Colorado with the intent of finding a boy, but to chase a wild adventure of living in the mountains during the heart of winter. Ben moved out to Winter Park because one of his friends invited him out for the season and was looking for something to do. Claire had just moved into the employee housing option that the resort provided and Ben was the RA of the space. Their initial meeting was Ben inviting members of the household to attend an evening church service him and his roommate would attend. A few weeks later, Claire decided to run before she could walk into snowboarding down the mountain. Of course having never done this before in her life, she had no idea what she was signing up for. So without a single lesson, she rode down from the top of the mountain with some coworkers and then took a toe edge, and crashed so hard she concussed herself. During her recovery, she acquired a bit of hesitancy towards returning to trying to ride down the mountain. She was fearful of the snowboard and could not bring herself to try again. Ben being the ski-savy man that he is, was encouraging her to return to the mountain and try again - even telling her that he would try snowboarding with her! Claire looked at him and gently reminded him that he was a skiing expert and should teach her how to ski. Thus, the student met the teacher. Ben was ever so patient with Claire and her inability to turn left and her PTSD from her fall. After this day on the slopes together, Ben asked Claire on a date-not-date dinner for his birthday! To be clear, it wasn't a date until after the evening concluded. The rest, as they say, is history! Now here we are coming together to celebrate the love they found in the mountains! Let's party together forever!!
