Kristen and Chuck met at a vegetarian speed dating event at Strange Town, a vegan restaurant on Milwaukee’s East Side. Chuck was endearingly awkward and Kristen smiled a lot. Both anxious adventurers, they went indoor rock climbing for their first date. It was the perfect mix of short bursts of conversation and focused attempts to climb a wall for the first time. Kristen clung to the top of the wall praying for a safe descent back down the wall and Chuck encouraged her and patiently waited for her to let go. While Kristen and Chuck didn't know it at the time, it was the perfect metaphor for their story. Chuck patiently waited for Kristen to thoroughly vet him as a partner before making their relationship official. And since, they have supported each other through all kinds of new adventures - running half marathons, camping for the first time in 20 years, kayaking, snowshoeing, buying a house and more. Although Eloise and Ambellina (cats) are still vetting Chuck, he is working his way in to their hearts, the same way that Kristen and Chuck have entered each others’ hearts.

We want to celebrate our love with the people who have influenced and shaped us over the years, but we want to keep everyone as safe as possible.
