Our neighborhood has a lot of bodega cats to visit, some friendly, some mean. Drinking Beer
Brooklyn has a lot of great beer bars and breweries. DSK is our favorite German bar and quite close to our place and the venue. Hops Hill is also nearby and serves interesting beers. We also recommend Cardiff Giant, an all-made-in-New-York-State bar, which consistently has a strong beer list, and obviously resonates with Chris's New York State roots. Other Half Brewing is in Gowanus and makes hazy/juicy New England-style IPAs. Threes Brewing isn't too far, and they make a wide variety of good beer.
You're in Brooklyn!
Check out some of the great Brooklyn landmarks! -Coney Island, a quintessentially Brooklyn beach, is home its own minor league baseball team (rivals to Emily and Chris's favorite team, the Staten Island FerryHawks) and a scary-but-fun, 98-year-old wooden roller coaster. -The Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens are next to each other and both really great. -Brooklyn Bridge Park and Promenade are beautiful and offer great views of Manhattan.
Eat Ice Cream
-Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain (513 Henry St, Brooklyn, NY 11231) is a delightful old-fashioned soda fountain for all your ice cream and hot dogs needs. -Ample Hills Creamery (623 Vanderbilt Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238) has a lovely & exciting variety of flavors. Think the Ben & Jerry's of Brooklyn! -Dreamery has plant based soft serve ice cream & is located across the street from Mishmish's bodega. -Van Leeuwen (550 Vanderbilt Ave, Brooklyn NY) The ice cream is great and they do a nice affogato <3 -Cobble Hill Coffee Shop (314 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231) gets an honorable mention for having milkshakes, chocolate egg creams, and an excellent vibe.
