How We Met

September 2015

We met in September 2015 through a mutual friend at Cold Spring Tavern. Pete thought Christina was cute, and mentioned to our friend "where have you been hiding that one?" The next day, Christina mentioned to our friend how she thinks Pete is very cute. Thanks to our friend being able to play amateur matchmaker, Pete and Christina met again later that evening at Benchmark and promises were made to exchange phone numbers. Through texting, they discovered a mutual love for soccer and Pete thoroughly impressed Christina when he mentioned he had gone to an Arsenal FA cup match in 2014. Arsenal is Christina’s favouritest soccer team. A week later, Pete and Christina had their first date at Bourbon Room and The Imperial, which was an evening filled with laughter, banter and Frank Turner music. This was the start of many adventures to come.

The proposal

January 2019

Completely unbeknownst to Christina, Pete had been working on her custom-made engagement ring through the end of 2018. The ring remained hidden in Pete's work bag through Christmas and New Year's whilst Pete thought of a good day to propose. In mid-January, Pete decided it was time. To keep Christina in the dark and unsuspecting, Pete convinced another mutual friend to invite both of them up to Cold Spring Tavern for some tri-tip sandwiches. When they arrived, clearly the friends were nowhere to be found and Pete suggested a drink and a walk whilst waiting for them to arrive. Since it was drizzling and chilly, Christina did put up a little protest but Pete insisted, suggesting she "just warm up on the walk". Even with Pete's uncharacteristically bossy tone, Christina remained unsuspicious and went along with the stroll in the cold. As Christina got colder and colder along the walk, she complained more and more, prompting Pete to interrupt her with "I don't care, will you marry me?" The answer was “Yes, please!!”
