If you want to see some amazing California waves, head over to The Wedge! The Wedge is a spot located at the extreme southeast end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California known for its large waves that makes it a popular spot for surfing and bodysurfing. Park in the surrounding neighborhood. Unless you are a brave surfer, this is not a swimming beach (the waves are too big).
This is a great spot very close to our wedding venue. This charming man-made island has been around for over a century and is filled with cozy homes and mouth-watering eateries. Here, you can enjoy a scenic walk along the waterfront, explore the adjacent Collins Island, check out the small Balboa Island Museum, or rent a bike to explore the peaceful streets. When it's time for lunch, head over to Marine Avenue where you'll find family-owned taverns, Swiss bistros, and classic diners. Make sure to stop by the taffy store for some sweet treats, too.
If you want to grab a bite to eat by the beach, this is a favorite place of ours. Fun fact: Stephen asked Christina to be his girlfriend here. There's some great restaurants there- Simmzy's & Bear Flag Fish Co. are some of our favorites. It's right across from the ocean! Don't forget to stop at Philz Coffee!
Great spot to walk around, enjoy some shopping and eating, and take in the beauty of Newport. It's right on the harbor so it's fun to watch boats take off. Christina's favorite thing is to grab a cup of coffee at Blue Bottle Coffee and sit outside.
