We met at Covenant Park Bible Camp. We were both on staff as counselors! Little did we know that not long after the first bit of staff training, we would become inseparable. We just clicked and truly became best friends. It turns out that seeing someone sleep deprived, stressed, and working hard with kids, will somehow help you fall in love with them. As the summer went on, we grew closer to God and each other. We knew with our whole hearts, that we were meant to be.
Clay was NOT good at keeping the proposal a secret. I basically knew the whole week leading up to the proposal that he was going to do it. He gave hints such as asked for my purity ring (to get it sized), had me get my nails done, and I knew he asked for my parents blessing. To cover up all the hints he said his friend was getting engaged. On September 3rd we went to the Rose Garden in Duluth at sunset. He brought his guitar to "play while his friend gave his speech." He introduced me to "their" photographer and put his guitar behind a bush. He came back with the ring behind his back, gave the most amazing speech, and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I excitedly said "OF COURSE!!"
We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!!
