We grew up around each other at McGregor Baptist Church but never became friends because our age difference kept us in separate classes. After some years of joining varying churches throughout middle and high school, I returned to McGregor and joined the college ministry in July 2021. I started regularly attending, connecting with new people, and reconnecting with old friends. After a few weeks, an all-too-familiar face walked through the door on a Wednesday night - like he owned the place - and sat at a table in the back of the room. I thought to myself, “I know that face anywhere — that’s Christian Miller. Wow.. he’s cute!” I must say, the first impression I gave him wasn’t good at all… I got flustered, and it came across as short and rude. I thought I’d blown my shot completely! Surely he’d never talk to me again. I was now a snob, and he would never be my friend. Thankfully, he had decided by the next week to start fresh and pretend the previous introduction had never happened. I was relieved and praising Jesus on the inside! We quickly became friends, and I realized I liked this guy a lot. My only question: did he like me too? I’ve always been oblivious to whether or not someone was interested in me, so I assumed he only saw me as a friend and moved on for the sake of my dignity within the group. Boy, was I wrong! After an unfortunate Christian Miller-less season of time, I came to my senses and reached out. He was the one for me, and I could only hope I hadn’t messed up again. We reconnected and were finally both transparent about our feelings for each other. We began dating shortly after, and it became apparent that we had made the right decision. We dated for four months before the amazing day, September 9, 2022, when Christian got down on one knee and asked the fateful question that brought you to this webpage today.
