Question

I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A CATHOLIC WEDDING BEFORE. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Answer

Catholic weddings are absolutely beautiful ceremonies. Marriage is a sacrament and is celebrated as a full mass when both the bride and groom are Catholic. A mass is what we call a church service. You should expect the ceremony to last about an hour. There will be sitting, standing, and kneeling. If you are a practicing Catholic, you may take communion. ***Please note: This is a church service. There are no cell phones, tablets, or cameras allowed.

Question

WHAT DO I WEAR TO A CATHOLIC WEDDING CEREMONY?

Answer

Our wedding is being celebrated at the Cathedral in Raleigh. It is best to go with a more modest dress. Strapless dresses are not usually the best choice for the church. The dress code is formal.

Question

WHY IS THERE A GAP BETWEEN THE CEREMONY AND THE COCKTAIL HOUR?

Answer

Because the church celebrates mass at 5:00 PM on Saturdays, we have to have an earlier ceremony. There are plenty of things to do in Raleigh and Wake Forest while waiting for the cocktail hour to begin! Check out the Things to Do page for suggestions!

Question

CAN I BRING MY KIDS?

Answer

Children of family members are included in your invitation. However, it is the parents' discretion on whether or not to bring them. There will be alcohol and explicit music at the reception. All kids will be the sole responsibility of the parent for the entirety of the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. If you are planning on bringing your child, please specify that when you RSVP so we can plan accordingly for meals. ***Please note: The ceremony is a 1 hour long church service. There will be no extra accommodations for children. Tablets and phones are not allowed in the church.
