The VMFA is one of our favorite spots in the city. It houses an impressive collection of art from antiquities to contemporary. Plus, the outdoor sculpture garden is the perfect spot to picnic or read a book. The special paid exhibit this summer happens to be Frida Kahlo – Chrissy's favorite, we highly recommend checking it out. The VMFA is FREE and open 365 days a year!
The James River Park offers so much to explore: walking trails along the river, amazing views, swimming holes, history, and more. Belle Isle is probably the most famous part of the park system, but we also recommend the Pipeline trail, Pony Pasture, and the T Tyler Potterfield bridge. Fun fact: Chrissy designed and built this website as well as most historical signs on Belle Isle!
Modern Jewish diner serving breakfast and lunch. Famous and delicious, best coffee in the city, best latkes I've ever had. You WILL have to wait, but it IS worth it. Our favorites: The Benny Goodman, Black and White cookies, and the coffee (buy whole bean next door).
What's Memorial Day Weekend without ice cream? SCOOP is our absolute favorite, we've gone through many loyalty cards with them, so take this as a tried-and-true recommendation. Our favorites: tiramisu, coconut, brown sugar cookie dough, any of their pie-related flavors.
The best coffee shop in the city, hands down. They have 3 locations in the city: Scott's Addition/Broad Street, The Fan/Morris Street, and Forest Hill. Our Favorites: Ube Coconut Latte (seasonal), any seasonal special, hot black coffee (Dan's fav).
