Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite things to do and eat in Richmond, but there's so much more!
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

The VMFA is one of our favorite spots in the city. It houses an impressive collection of art from antiquities to contemporary. Plus, the outdoor sculpture garden is the perfect spot to picnic or read a book. The special paid exhibit this summer happens to be Frida Kahlo – Chrissy's favorite, we highly recommend checking it out. The VMFA is FREE and open 365 days a year!

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

1800 Lakeside Avenue, Henrico, VA 23228

Lewis Ginter is another Richmond must-see! We've been here many times, and May is the perfect time to go. Our favorite part is the exotic plants in the conservatory.

Belle Isle – James River Park

Belle Isle – James River Park

Tredegar Street, Richmond, VA 23219

The James River Park offers so much to explore: walking trails along the river, amazing views, swimming holes, history, and more. Belle Isle is probably the most famous part of the park system, but we also recommend the Pipeline trail, Pony Pasture, and the T Tyler Potterfield bridge. Fun fact: Chrissy designed and built this website as well as most historical signs on Belle Isle!

Hotel Greene

Hotel Greene

508 East Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23219

Hotel Greene is not a hotel, it's an American Gothic fauxtel with cocktails, appetizers, and mini golf. Think cool cocktail lounge with upscale indoor mini golf and a mysterious twist. Just trust us on this one!

Perly's

Perly's

111 E Grace St, Richmond, VA 23219

Modern Jewish diner serving breakfast and lunch. Famous and delicious, best coffee in the city, best latkes I've ever had. You WILL have to wait, but it IS worth it. Our favorites: The Benny Goodman, Black and White cookies, and the coffee (buy whole bean next door).

Idle Hands Bread Company

Idle Hands Bread Company

407 Strawberry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

The best bakery in Richmond! We love it so much that we ate these croissants in our engagement photos. Get here early for the best selection. Our favorites: almond croissant, supreme croissant, cinnamon roll.

Kuba Kuba

Kuba Kuba

1601 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220

A Richmond staple for 25 years! Delicious Cuban food in a comfy bodega-style restaurant in Richmond's iconic Fan neighborhood. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it's all amazing. Our favorites: huevos rancheros, paella, tres leches.

Can Can Brasserie

Can Can Brasserie

3120 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

An iconic French restaurant in the bustling Carytown neighborhood. They have a fairly fancy dinner, and more casual brunch and lunch. The atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit. Our favorites: quiche, duck a la orange, scallops.

Cochiloco | Scott's Addition

Cochiloco | Scott's Addition

3340 West Moore Street, Richmond, VA 23230

Delicious (and generous!) Mexican street tacos in a lively and funky atmosphere. Our Favorites: chicken tacos, carne asada tacos, cali fries.

Garnett's

Garnett's

2001 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220

Garnett's is a cute and cozy sandwich place in the Fan neighborhood. We've loved everything we've ever had here, and don't sleep on their desserts! Our favorites: the chaplain, chicken salad, and wblt.

Scoop

Scoop

403 Strawberry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

What's Memorial Day Weekend without ice cream? SCOOP is our absolute favorite, we've gone through many loyalty cards with them, so take this as a tried-and-true recommendation. Our favorites: tiramisu, coconut, brown sugar cookie dough, any of their pie-related flavors.

Blanchard's Coffee Broad Street

Blanchard's Coffee Broad Street

3121 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23230

The best coffee shop in the city, hands down. They have 3 locations in the city: Scott's Addition/Broad Street, The Fan/Morris Street, and Forest Hill. Our Favorites: Ube Coconut Latte (seasonal), any seasonal special, hot black coffee (Dan's fav).
