Maddy and Chris met on the 14th floor of Fox News HQ when their weekend shifts on the news desk overlapped. One night in July 2015, Chris came to Maddy's rescue when she suffered a seizure during their shift. What started as a few texts after the scary incident turned into a couple dates where they bonded over their love of quotable 90s films, their desire to own a dog (coming from two families who deprived them of one!!), and their insatiable love of food. The romance introduced them to places close to their hearts like Chris’ vacation house in Cape Cod (where Maddy’s love of oysters began) and Maddy’s family lake house in New Hampshire (where Chris took up his new hobby of kayaking). After two years of “long distance” and many metro north rides later, they moved to Astoria Queens where they perfected the art of domestic living (she cooks, he cleans), enjoyed weekends at their favorite local spots, and many rainy nights on the couch seeing how many Harry Potter films they can watch in one night.
After weathering the pandemic in their tiny 400 sq. foot apartment while both working from home, Chris and Maddy agreed they needed a vacation. They decided to take a trip to Florida to visit Maddy's best friend Monique and Chris knew he wanted to make this vacation extra special. Chris enlisted the help of Monique in planning the perfect proposal complete with a boat ride to Shell Key where they would watch the sunset alongside Maddy's parents and Monique's family. During a walk along the beach at sunset Chris popped the question! Despite Maddy thinking she wouldn't cry during this kind of sappy stuff, she teared up while hearing Chris speak of their first date and when he knew she was the one. The proposal followed with a champagne filled celebration on the beach with her family and friends and many phone calls to loved ones. We can't wait to celebrate with you all!
