We met online. Chris sent the first message early one morning and when I saw it later that evening, I decided to check out his profile. I was captivated by his beautiful blue eyes, so I decided to send a message back to see where it would go. A few days passed and I didn’t hear back from Chris. I was getting a little irritated because he was the one who sent the first message, and it appeared he was ghosting me. Then on 2/18 he finally responded. I had already kind of written him off, but I decided to give those blue eyes a chance. We sent a few messages back and forth, and I was immediately intrigued. I wanted to see where it may lead. When I returned home from a birthday party, Chris called me and time just flew by. When I first looked up at the clock, I realized that we had already been on the phone for 3 hours. Then before I knew it, another 3 hours had passed. We called it a night and picked up texting the next day then spent another 5 hours on the phone that afternoon/evening. Chris then took me on our first date the following day. After dinner, we took a drive to Vulcan to overlook the city of Birmingham. Two days later, we went on our second date and had a picnic lunch at Star Lake in Hoover. After our picnic we went to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and walked around continuing to talk and get to know each other. He then wanted to show me the house that he grew up in. He asked if I wanted to stop in and meet his parents, and I was like “wait!!” But then I changed my mind, and we stopped in to meet them. Then one of his sisters and all of his nieces and nephews were at his parent’s house. So I quickly met the family just on our second date. We then continued our date with dinner. The next Saturday, we went on another date and he took me for a drive to his parents’ lake house. We hung out there for a few hours just talking and that is where he asked me to be his girlfriend. The rest is history!!

On the celebration of 6 months of dating, we went to dinner and then he surprised me with a trip to Vulcan just like our first date. When we got to Vulcan, the top observatory deck was closed for repair but we still decided to keep going to look out over Birmingham from a lower point of view. We talked and pointed out different things in the skyline and then he got behind me and I was confused at what he was doing. I turned around and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “YES!!!!” He then said he had another surprise for me and he pointed in a couple of different directions to where his sisters and brother in law where discreetly taking pictures!
