There was something about how easy it was to talk to each other. We had no problem sharing our life stories and how God was the one who brought us through all of our tough times. There has always been a peace, joy and laughter about our time together. It was nice to find someone who could listen and share life with. We love and respect each other inclusive of our shortcomings. When you know, you know - our first date was really special. First impressions are very important and when we first saw each other, it was different. We met and drove 30 minutes to Athens which was filled with laugher, jokes, holding hands and just talking about us. We had dinner and drinks at The Place, where our friend Ben tried to get us to share a dinner (a story for another time). We celebrated Wendy's "2 month belated birthday" with some strangers. On our walk back to the car, I think we both knew something was really special. Our family - God and family are the cornerstone of who we are individually and as a couple. We knew that if any relationship would move forward, our kids would have to sign off. The kids have developed a really special relationship and care about each other. We can no longer hold family meetings because of the fun and laughter they bring to the table. Often times they make plans without mom and dad even knowing (which is scary). Our parents see the difference that our relationship has had on each of us and we are forever grateful for their love and support.
