The date was Halloween. The year 2019. The setting Hoboken, NJ. Both Todd & Chelsea had decided earlier in the day not to venture out that evening, or to be somewhere else for the day. Fate had other plans in mind. As the late afternoon, early evening progressed, they were both provided with plan invitations that simply neither could refuse. A house party in Hoboken?! How could we refuse?! A house both of them had been to many times over the years. A house most people reading this story now had been to as well. Located strategically on Washington st. Next to the now closed Retro Fitness, and a stones throw from where they live now. However, after all these years, and many events at said house, both Chelsea and Todd had never once been there on the same evening. Their paths had never crossed. Until this evening... Putting on their best (worst for one of them) costumes. Doing her hair, and shaving his face. They both emigrated from their respective apartments in the city, to the small town of Hoboken. A move not many would be brave enough to make, and few have dared successfully in the past. Once arrived, the evening began with small talk and pleasantries. Bud lights being chugged, and hot toddy's being microwaved. However, it was not until Todd and crew decided to move on that he noticed a beautiful figured standing by the exit. Blocking his escape to bed and home, but little did he know at the time, inviting him to begin the steps of creating their own life and home together. With some encouragement from others, he gained the courage to say hello to her and strike up a conversation. Although the libations had been flowing, and his speech patterns were not up to status quo, he managed to learn some about who she is, where she works, the home she has known, and the future she sees for herself. As well as the beautiful art creations she is able to make with a simple rubber balloon. An elephant, giraffe, puppy, or snake. There was nothing she was incapable of in his eyes. All of this information presented to him only increased his desire to learn more about her. And with that he swiftly inquired for her phone number. To which she fortunately obliged. A rainy Sunday morning, a quickly fleeting dehydration, and some lovely conversation via text message was just enough to solidify plans to meet again later that week. Over cocktails and wings in the Kitchen of Hell, they both got to know more and more about each other. Passions and interests. Families and Birthdays. Work and Weekend Plans. Late Night Walks and Little Pecks. From there their time together was just beginning, and shortly thereafter they both knew that it would be a relationship that is never ending. Through birthdays and weddings, to tragedy and pandemics. They have since ventured through all that life brings together, and with the love and support of their friends and family will continue to do so long after this day of celebration.
