We “officially” met in September of 2015 when Chelsea transferred to St. Ambrose University and joined the SAU track team. During our first year together on the team, we barely talked to each other because we were in such different track events. In fact, it wasn’t until May of 2016 that we really started talking one night in the library. We were both trying to avoid studying for finals, so what started out as a quick “hi, how are you?” turned into an all night chat session. Needless to say, neither of us did very well on our finals the next day. After that night in the library, everything came naturally for us as we realized how much we had in common from our food obsessions (shout-out to sushi, pancheros, cake-shakes, & mountain dew), to cheering on the Hawkeyes, and goals for our futures. We spent as much time together as we could during those two weeks before summer break, and then traveled back and forth to see each other over summer. Once school started back up we saw each other more often and actually talked to each other during track that season. After graduation, Jonah began working for the City of Cedar Rapids as he completed testing to become a police officer, and Chelsea stayed at St. Ambrose to finish up her Master’s of Accounting degree. After almost a year of somewhat long distance, we are in the same place again with Jonah working as an Iowa City Police Officer and Chelsea working as a Corporate Tax Accountant for Transamerica in Cedar Rapids. We are so happy with the way that everything has fallen into place and couldn’t be more thankful for those who have helped us get to this point. Next stop: MARRIAGE!
