On April 10, 2021 we were both in attendance at the wedding of mutual friends. Even though Chelsea was in the wedding, and Chase sat at the table right next to her parents, neither of them remember ever seeing the other at the wedding, and they didn't formally meet until several months later. In July 2021, they were both invited to a Fourth of July party at the same mutual friend's house, and were introduced to one another. Two and a half months later, at the end of September 2021, they went on their first date to Al's Burger Shack on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, followed by frozen yogurt at Yogurt Pump.
Before we met, we had both resolved to "run" after God fully and trust that eventually we would find someone else who was running after Him too. Throughout our relationship, we have continued to come back to this running metaphor, excited that we had found someone who was running in the same direction as ourselves (towards God), at the same time, and at the same speed. So, it was only fitting that Chase decided to ask Chelsea to marry him at the end of a 5k race we ran together - in the same direction, at the same time, at the same speed. We ran the ChristmasTown 5k through the McAdenville Christmas lights, and afterwards, as we were walking through the lights to see some of the ones we missed while we were running the race, Chase popped the question, asking Chelsea to run with him forever and marry him.
