We met at Universal Studios Hollywood playing dress up for a living! Chase was Fred and I was Velma: solving mysteries one day at a time. On Sunday, November 4th, 2018 our work team got together for an evening hang out. It took one conversation between Chase and I for both of us to think, "Hmm, this is special...." When the evening came to a close, Chase walked me to my car like a true gentleman and the next day asked if I wanted to see a movie. I replied, "How about dinner AND a movie?" Chase listened to my stories as a wild child gallivanting all over the globe and I giggled at his silly puns and dad jokes (which I still find funny!) but what was immediately undeniable was that we shared the same heart and love for the King of the universe. Now I understand the saying, "When you know, you know." I knew Chase Drews was the one God prepared for me. I knew he was my guy.
Everyone, I had it. The perfect proposal. Let me set the scene for you. After a beautiful dinner, Casey and I walk down a quiet street overlooking the Italian coast line in Cinque Terre. I look at her, say something extraordinarily romantic, and then get down on one knee and ask her to marry me. Perfection. Unfortunately my perfect proposal didn't happen. Because pandemic. Instead, I had to rewrite and revise my plan not once, not twice, not even three or four times, but FIVE times. Finally, my fifth plan was set thanks to Casey's maid of honor Ariana and her boyfriend Parker. Ariana and Casey had decided that Zion National Park was a destination that they had to go to next and they were bringing Parker and I. My mind goes racing on how I could make this proposal happen in Zion. I carefully came up with a master plan where I had Ariana "suggest" ideas and places we could go so it wasn't coming from me. One of the places was a quick hike that ends in a gorgeous view of the canyon, and after the proposal, we had reservations at an amazing restaurant for a celebration. (Props to Ariana for convincing the staff to reserve our table!) The plan was set. After a few days of hiking, exploring, and enjoying God's creation, it was time. I lead us as we marched up the legendary path to the perfect spot with the perfect view. It was truly breathtaking, not only the view, but my shortness of breath due to my almost unbearable anxiety and nerves. I was finally there with the most beautiful, kind, talented, funny, and overall way too good for me masterpiece of a human being, Casey. Long story short, I hugged her, told her a few (extraordinarily romantic) things, got down on one knee, and asked the woman of my dreams to marry me. The End......of the Beginning!
