Come celebrate with us!

Because we had a very small & intimate wedding last October, we would like to invite you to our one year (and a few weeks) anniversary reception! The reception will take place in Southaven, MS, where Nirva grew up and where his parents currently live. The reception will be a traditional Indian reception and we encourage you to dress the part - don't worry we can help if you need!

The Dhayas

You might be asking yourself, who are the Dhayas? In following with the idea of forming our new family, we thought it would be meaningful for the both of us to change our last names together. The name Dhaya comes from Nirva's paternal grandfather, and in Indian culture family lineage is traces back through paternal side. We thought there could be no better way to maintain a connection to Nirva's Indian heritage while honoring his grandfather and starting our new lives together than both of us changing our last names.

How We Met

According to Charlotte: Nirva and I met in 2018 while attending Nirva's cousin's wedding in Gujarat, India, where Nirva's family is from. Nirva's cousin, Jimi, actually tried getting me interested in Nirva before the wedding, but I was certain that dating my friend's family member was a bad idea. Despite that, when I finally met him, I was instantly captivated by Nirva's calm demeanor and cool tattoos. It was clear from the start how devoted Nirva is to his family, and I was hooked. Nirva took a bit longer to realize what a catch I am, but eventually I got through to him. We had our first date (planned by me) in New York City in January 2019 on the coldest day of the year. We went to a special viewing of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory followed by ax throwing and Thai takeout. According to Nirva: When I met Charlotte at Jimi's wedding in India, my only thought at the time was to make sure she and her best friend, Alli, survived the full Hindu wedding. Of course I thought she was beautiful, but I was too focused on being helpful during the wedding to really get to know her. It wasn't until we both returned back home and started texting/talking that I realized I was into Charlotte. Luckily for us I was still working at American Airlines and was able to visit Charlotte in NYC easily. Since that first trip where Charlotte showed me what the city was like for a local, I haven't stopped wanting to explore the world with her! Since meeting, we have traveled the world together, lived through a pandemic, two years of graduate school, adopted a dog (Mithi), fought cancer, and gone on so many hikes we can't keep track. We are so excited to celebrate our union as The Dhaya's with you!
