Every Saturday in the skies above Tivoli, one of the oldest and most picturesque theme parks in the world, fireworks light up the sky. The colourful explosions illuminate the gardens, the scandi/oriental designed carousels and most importantly an 1800s gazebo overlooking the lakes; which just happened to be Zoe’s favourite part of the park. In the month of April, the fireworks season had begun and a trip to Copenhagen was quickly approaching. With the engagement ring ready, the perfect stage was set for the most romantic proposal ever! Right at the same time that COVID-19 decided to make an appearance and the entire world including EasyJet, Tivoli and the Firework illuminated gazebo of beauty was shut down by the global pandemic… With much uncertainty it was unclear whether the Tivoli dream proposal would be possible and as days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, April had turned to June with no signs of normality returning any time soon! So, on 6th June 2020, in Telford Shropshire, in the living room of Zoe’s flat, balloons covered the floor, flowers were scattered around and the (much less dramatic than fireworks) glow of candles illuminated the room. But as Charles asked Zoe for her hand in marriage, no kind of supposed ‘dream proposal’ was important anymore, and the rest is history ♥
