Chad was on a cruise for a bachelor party and I happened to be on the same cruise. I earned my ticket on the cruise through a company I was with at the time. Apparently he had spotted me one day one when we were boarding the cruise. It wasn't until day 2 that I would see him. We docked in Ensenada Mexico where we ran into each other at Papa's & Beer. We instantly had a connection, and from there the rest is history. It's like our own little Titanic love story, except I'm Jack with the winning ticket onto the ship.
It all started when Chad planned a surprise trip to Catalina Island for my birthday. The weekend started out by being surprised by his family that flew in from TX. We hung out, had some drinks, and had an amazing dinner. The next morning, the surprises kept coming. My sister and her fiance showed up in our room while I was getting ready for the day. Now I knew something was up. After morning golf cart rides around the island, the search for lunch started. Chad and I got some alone time while everyone seemed to part ways for various reasons, all while we were supposed to be looking for food. At this point I was cranky, sunburnt, hungry, and my feet were sore. Chad asked if I wanted to walk down by the sand and I tried to say no! I was being stubborn but I agreed to walk down to the sand where he would then ask if we could take a picture. He hands me his phone and I take maybe 2 pictures. He then he turns and looks at me and says, “Do you know how much you mean to me?” I responded, “Of course I do, do you know how much you mean to me?” He replied "Yes". We told each other I love you and then out comes, “Well this is how much you mean to me!” He reaches for his back pocket and my heart about exploded. He dropped to one knee and popped the question. I’m pretty sure he asked me twice and I don’t think I ever really said yes because I couldn’t stop crying. He stood up and hugged me as I bawled into his shoulder and said YES! He then said “Help me put this thing on you, I’m shaking.” He slid the ring on my finger and all of a sudden I heard people cheering. He told me to look up and pointed to a roof top bar that overlooked where we were standing. When I looked up, I was surprised by even more family and friends who made the journey to Catalina to celebrate with us. It was truly such a special moment because we got to share it with so many of our loved ones.
